HOW TO WALK ON WATER

Good day to all of you! God is good all the time. Here’s the message for today’s Sunday service (February 17, 2008). This message is aimed to teach you about faith and not to limit God on what He can do for our lives. Today’s preacher is Rev. Raul P. Ternida and the text is taken from the book of Matthew 14:22-33.

Here’s the outline of the sermon:

Introduction:
- Think out of the box.
How’s our life? Are we satisfied with our life/ situation right now?
Don’t limit your life with the situation you have right now.
- Water represents new thing, desire, dream, new direction.
Walking in the water might be impossible… but if it is God’s will it will happen.
We a lot of desires and dreams that seem impossible to happen, but if it is God’s will for your life, it will happen.
- Peter is different with other disciples; he wants to experience what he saw with Jesus.
Peter may have weaknesses.. (denied Jesus 3 times… etc.), but he never stop trying.
If we don’t really try to do new things in our lives, definitely we end up our lives being a loser.
Peter has many strengths at the same time he had his weaknesses but he never failed to try.

Discussion:

1. HAVE FAITH ON WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN
Matthew 14:28 – “And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, bid me to come to you on the water.”
· “As a man thinks in his heart so is he”
· Heb. 11: 1 “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
· Heb.11:11 By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who made the promise.
- It is not on what we see, because what we see might dictate us that what we are dreaming about will not happen.
- Though our circumstances may dictate us that it is impossible, but our God is greater than our circumstances.
- He who called us is reliable!

2. IF YOU WANT TO WALK IN THE WATER, GET OUT OF THE BOAT!
Matthew 14:29 He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus;
· Get out of your comfort zone!
· Heb.11:15,16 If they had been thinking of that land from which that had gone out, hey would have the opportunity to return. But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.

3.IF ANYTHING HAPPENS.. ASK FOR HELP!
- Matthew 14:30, 31 but when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, “O man of little faith, why did you doubt?”
- Prov. 3:5,6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your insight. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
- Depend not on your abilities but on God who can save both our body and soul.

Conclusion:
John 14:12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father.
